Think before you act!

Will you be having in-person meetings again? Or do you prefer to stay active online by organising virtual meetings or events? You can also combine the best of both worlds and go for a hybrid meeting or event. Nobody knows what the future holds, but we do know that you shouldn’t simply postpone your meeting or event. Depending on your goal and possibilities, there are numerous options available.

But what is the best solution?

Before you decide whether a live, virtual or hybrid setup is the way to go, let's recap!

A live, or an in-person meeting is a meeting where all people are physically in the same room. This means that all speakers, participants, technicians, note takers, interpreters and others are physically at the location meeting each other face to face.

Some examples of a live meeting are: conferences, trade shows, product launches, (European) Works Councils, seminars, ... .

Virtual (or online) meetings are real time interactions that take place in a virtual environment (web) instead of meeting together in the same location. By using integrated video, audio and chat tools people can easily participate.

Some examples of virtual meetings are online demos, web conferences, video conferences, shareholder meetings, ... .

A hybrid meeting is a conference, seminar, workshop or other meeting that combines a "live" in-person meeting with a "virtual" online component.

How do you make the right choice?

It is important to first determine the nature (participatory or not), objective (e.g. share information, networking) and the target group (e.g. age, tech-savviness) of the event. Once that is done, you can determine what type of meeting is best suited and will give the highest return on your investment.
