We are kicking off the new year by adding 3 new talents to our team! Meet Negar Yazdanitcharatiand, Arthur Devaux and Laura Rammelt. Negar will support our team of project managers for multilingual meetings, Arthur and Laura are both going to support our translation department, Arthur as a project manager and Laura as a trainee (she is currently doing a 3-month internship).
So before we start, tell us a bit more about yourself?
Negar: I’m 25 years old and I’m from Belgium and Iran. I studied a masters degree in translation in English and Spanish in Brussels. I love travelling and getting to know new cultures. My favourite hobby is to try international dishes.
Laura: I’m 24 years old and I live in Heerlen, Netherlands. I’m currently in my final year of the School of Translation and Interpreting in Maastricht and when I finish my two internships this school year I'll officially be graduated as a translator. One of those internships will be abroad (probably in Malta) and the other one I’m doing right now at Presence!
Arthur: I live in Bastogne in Belgium, I’m 36 years old, I studied Germanic languages and literature in Louvain-la-Neuve and I’ve worked as a project manager in a translation agency in Luxembourg for 11 years. I play tennis during my free time and I love snowboarding, kitesurfing and hiking. I try to travel as often as I can to discover new countries and cultures. I also love to listen to music and to go to concerts and festivals to discover sounds and bands.
And what distinguishes you from the rest? What is “typically you”?
Negar: I’m really good at music blind tests of the 2000s.
Laura: I’m a huge cat person and I want to pet every cat I meet on the street. :)
Arthur: I can barbecue all year long, all seasons, even if it’s raining or snowing!
Good to know!
Negar and Arthur, what do you hope to accomplish after 3 years at Presence?
Negar I hope that my communication and organisation skills will drastically improve so that I can fully help the clients and the interpreters. And of course, I hope to get close with my colleagues to have a great working environment.
Arthur: Make the company grow and keep the clients as happy as possible by providing them with the best service. Try to put my experience as a project manager at the service of the company as best as I can. All that while having fun of course!
And Laura, what about you? What do you hope to learn from your internship at Presence?
Laura: I’m hoping to experience what it’s like to work as a project manager in a professional translation and communication agency and be able to manage a translation project from start to finish all by myself. I’m also hoping to improve myself in helping clients as best as I can and make sure they are completely satisfied with my service!
To round up this interview, what is your favorite motivational quote and why?
Negar: Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” ― Marie Curie. I like this quote because I think that it is important to remain open to new experiences and realities in order to evolve. Life has a lot to offer us and we should keep learning.
Laura: “I’ve never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that.” - Pippi Longstocking. I like this one because I really enjoyed watching Pippi Longstocking as a kid and this simple quote reminds you to not listen to that little voice inside you that says that you can’t do something when you haven't even given it a try yet. Better try and fail instead of not trying and achieving the same result!
Arthur: “Adventure starts at the end of your comfort zone”. I think it describes my mindset very well and the way I like to think about life. Learning and trying new things, meeting new people is what I always try to do to spice things up!
